Strength Training

Strength TrainingStrong Life Physiotherapy offers an evidence-based program where Research shows that clients participating in the program will;

  • Increase strength and muscle mass
  • Increase flexibility
  • Improve balance
  • Feel happier, more energetic and more self-confident
  • Be more active
  • Usually increase bone density or at least maintain their bone density
  • Assist to maintain constant blood glycogen levels and therefore is helpful for clients with diabetes
  • Reduces arthritic pain

This program is necessary because generally people lose strength, balance, mobility and bone density after the age of 35-40.

Our Program

  • Strength TrainingA progressive program of exercises using free weights
  • Exercises performed slowly for maximum benefit
  • Each session also includes a warm-up, some stretches some balance training and a cool down
  • 6 groups a week (booking not required after you have joined)
  • Led by a physiotherapist
  • Friendly groups of 8 -12
  • All clients working at their own level
  • All clients keeping a record of the weights they are lifting
  • All equipment provided
  • Wear loose comfortable clothes and sneakers
  • Program suitable for all ages but probably most appropriate for those over 40 or with low bone density

How to join

Book into one of the regular introductory sessions.

  • Understand why you must do this program and understand the benefits that can usually be achieved
  • Understand how and when to progress your weights
  • Learn how to do each exercise properly

After attending the introductory session

You will then be able to attend any of the 6 weekly sessions without booking. You will get the most benefit from our program if you attend two sessions each week. Just fit these in around your weekly activities.

All classes conducted by a physiotherapist can be claimed on your Private Health Insurance under extras physiotherapy cover.
